Overview

Newington Green Primary School partnered with Silvercrest Energy UK to take a major step towards sustainability while reducing long term operational costs. The school required a solar installation that not only delivered strong financial returns, but also protected its existing flat roof warranties.

To achieve this, it was essential that Silvercrest Energy UK worked alongside certified specialists to integrate the solar PV system with the existing roofing system without invalidating prior guarantees.

What We Did

Protecting roof warranties, ensuring long term performance and maximising solar savings

A Community Powered Project

This solar project was made possible thanks to the school’s incredible commitment and community spirit. Over two years, Newington Green Primary School, the Newington Green Action Group and local businesses and families worked tirelessly to raise funds to cover the costs of the solar installation – hosting events, running local fundraisers and securing support through the Aviva Community Fund.

Their determination has allowed the school to invest in a renewable energy solution that will benefit pupils for decades to come, proving what can be achieved when a community comes together behind sustainability.

Protecting the Roof

-and the Investment

For this project, Silvercrest Energy UK worked alongside Bauder Approved Contractors to carry out the soft-weld of the Nicholson Rooftek system, ensuring:

  • Specialist expertise for complex flat roof integration
  • Fully approved installation methods compatible with Bauder systems
  • Long lasting protection for both the flat roof and the new solar PV array

By partnering with the correct certified professionals, we ensured that Newington Green Primary School retained full warranty protection of their existing roof while gaining total confidence in the performance, safety and durability of their new solar PV system.

Financial Benefits

Newington Green Primary School now benefits from a long term, cost saving renewable system that directly supports their educational mission.

The system was switched on and commissioned on the 27th September 2025 and so far has generated over 5.6MWh of electricity. These savings have freed up budget that can be reinvested into the pupils, resources and improving the learning environment, demonstrating how sustainability can directly benefit education.
